TRIBUNJ HOLIDAY IS GREAT HOLIDAY
If there is a place in the middle of the Adriatic Coast that recalls the essence of the ancient ways of Dalmatia and yet offers modern standars, then it is definitely Tribunj.
Although it has been oriented towards tourists for a long time, it has still remains an old fishermen's village.
The docks are decorated in the early Fall with casks of domestic wines, and the life of Tribunj local fishermen moves into the hinter land where they work in their vineyards and olive groves, producing the wines and olive oil for which Tribunj is well known.
The history of Tribunj is closely connected to the building of the small church of St. Nicholas, the protector of the village.
There is a beautifull vantage point from which you can see the whole village.There is a pine forest, the beach Zamalin, and a little bit further there are two natural beaches, Sovlja and Bristak.
During the summer, there are different festivals taking place in Tribunj: Fishermans Night, Donkeys Race, Line Fishing Cup.
Our house Tribunj holiday is situated in center of Tribunj. Tribunj is a small village only 3 km from the Main Adriatic Road near the turistic town Vodice, 15 km west of Šibenik, 80 km west of Split, 60 km east of Zadar.

Tribunj has one of the biggest fishing fleet in the Sibenik area and every evening in the main Tribunj harbour you can buy fresh fish.

Tribunj is a typicall dalmatian town characterised by narrow streets and close-built houses. Old part od the town is build on an island; a stone bridge has been build later on and connects the island with the mainland where a new town developed. The oldest written document dates back to 1464 and mentions the old name of Tribunj – Triubahunj. Old st. Nicholas church was built in 1452. On the st. Nicholas hill a defence fortress against Turks named Jurjevgrad was built in 1650. During the Venetian reign Tribunj was fortified by walls, the remains of which can still be seen. The curch of Virgin Mary from the year 1435 is situated in the east, on the way to Vodice.
Inhabitants of Tribunj, apart from turism, mainly engage in fishing and agriculture, and they are renowed for growing and production of quality olive oil. Tribunj has maintained its architectural tradition and originality. In lively small harbours fishing boats can be seen hauling fresh fish every day. Peace and beauty of this place was known to famous artists who chose Tribunj as a place where they could work in their ateliers in old-fashioned renovated houses, inspired by the harmony surrounding them.
