THE APARTMENTS MLJET MIRJANA are located in Prožura on the island of MLJET, on of the most beautiful and greenest islands in the Adriatic. The island is situated in the South Dalmatian Archipelago, 20 nautical miles westwards from Dubrovnik.It is 37 km long and nly 3 km wide, divided from the Pelješac Peninsula by the Mljet Channel. With its virgin nature and crystal clear sea it represents an oasis of perfect harmony of the characteristic lush Mediterranean vegetation and the transparently blue colour of the sea.Visitors to the island are impressed by the beauty of the coastline as well as the interior of the island.Ranges of limestone hills change places with numerous karst valleys that are idal for long walks and trekking.
The National Park MLJET is unique world phenomenon with its two lakes and an islet in the interior of the island. One third of the islands total area has been proclaimed a National Park due its exquisite beauty of the naure.With its numerous beaches, rich fishing areas, historical sites, its amazing nature, the island of Mljet attracts tourists from all corners of the world, especially those looking for a peace and relaxation.
In the northwestern part of the island there are two lakes: the Small Lake with its maximum depth of 29,5 m is connected by a 30 m long channel to the Big Lake with the surface of 141 acres and maximum depth of 46 m.The shallow, 30 m long channel connects the lake with the open sea.
The island has all the characteristic of the Mediterranean climate; long, hot and dry summers and short, mild winters.Its vegetation is exuberant consisting of typical Mediterranean shrubs and aromatic plants - lavender, garden-sage,heather, laurel, rosemary and others.The cultivated parts of the Island are covered by vineyards, olive and citrus groves while the pine forests cover 72% of its total area and spread to the shore.
The main settlements and holiday resorts PROŽURA, BABINO POLJE, MARANOVICI,KORITA, BLATO, ROPA lie in the interior of the island along the fertile fields.These picturesque places have their own small coves on the northern side of the island. The inhabitants are engaged in tourism, agriculture and fishing.
There are traces of settlements from the Illyrian times in the vicinity of the Big Lake.
Remains of villae rusticae from the Roman times can be found all over the island.
The name of the island derives from the Roman name of the island- MELITA.
In the 12th century the Benedictines built their monastery and a churc in Romanesque style on a small islnad of St. Mary, in the middle of the Big Lake.
A valuable collection of stone monuments is exhibited in the belry of the church.
In the 14 th C MLJET was incorporated into the Republic of Dubrovnik. In that period some Gothic churches were built as well as several Gothic and Renaissance palaces belonging to Dubrovnik noblemen.
In the 16th C defensive walls and a towe were built around the monastery to defend the island from pirate attacks.
There are remains of an ancient castle in the place called POLACE. On the external side of the island there is a sea cave called Oddysseus Cave where according to an old legend the famous Old Greek seafarer Oddysseus had been stranded. According to this legend the Island of Mljet is called Oddysseus Island.
The settlements in the interior of the Island like PROŽURA, MARANOVICI,KORITA with their characteristic citadels and numerous small churches tell a story about rich history of this island.Sailing along the coastline we shall see a number of small votive chapels built by our seamen on the rocks of the island.The most beautiful sandy beaches are on the northern side of the island.
THE PROŽURA PORT, the most beautiful port of the ilsland of MLJET is located in the central part of the island facing the Pelješac Peninsula and is well protected from the winds by the off shore islets.
The PROŽURA place is situated along the main road and this one-time fishing port has grown into an exceptionally attractive holiday resort and oasis of peace and quiet for numerous foreign and domestic holidaymakers.There still exist fishing storehouses as testimony of close links of the inhabitants to seafaring and fising.
As it is forbidden driving cars along the seafront of the ProžuraPort, the holidaymakers can enjoy undisturbed the sun and sea as well as long walks all around.

The apartments are part of a newly built house with modern and comfortable furnishing offering maximum comfort to its guests.
The complex of the APARTMENTS MLJET MIRJANA consists of 4 apartments and a separate FRANA HOUSE MLJET.
APARTMENT 1 ( 6-8 pax)
The largest spacious and comfortable apartment, about 90 m2 big is situated on the ground floor of a new house.It consists of 3 bedrooms, a large living room, private bathroom with wc, another wc, well equipped kitchen, terrace with wonderful seaview, another terrace on the opposite side of the house with a small barbecue house.
APARTMENT 2 ( 2+1 pax)
This apartment is about 40 m2 big, situated on the first floor of the same house consisting of a bedroom, private bathroom, well-equippe kitchen with a dining room and a terrace with a sea view.The apartment has been recently refurnished and is exceptionally comfortable.
APARTMENT 3 (2+1 pax)
The same apartment as the above mentioned, on the same floor but with a separate entrance.
APARTMENT 4 ( 2+2 PAX)
Situated on the first floor of the same house, a little bit bigger than the apartments 2 and 3, about 45 m2, consisting of a bedroom, well-quipped kitchen, spacious living room with a sofa that can be used as a double bed, private bathroom and a terrace with wonderful sea view.
THE FRANA FAMILY HOUSE ( 4-6 pax)
Newly rearranged family house close by the sea with the area of 70 m2, consisting of 2 bedrooms, a vine clad terrace behind the house with a nice garden and barbecue.The house is very comfortable, well arranged in the traditional Dalmatian style.
On the ground floor of the same house a studio apartment ( about 40 m2) is being rearranged.
For all our guests there is a possibility for renting bicycles and small boats.
